Introduction to Our Group

As me and Chloe worked very well in our preliminary task together, we decided to work together as a two for our thriller opening. We are aware that, as we were only in a two, we will have to put a lot of work between us into our thriller yet we were positive it was not going to put us at any disadvantage than any other group.

We have both recently met to discuss our basic ideas and planning for our thriller. These were just ideas being thrown around by us both and nothing will be finalised for a while, however it has given us an opportunity to decide on the outline of the opening and let each other know anything we were aiming to include.

Currently we have decided on a girl being abducted from her parents. The girl who will feature in our opening is Chloe's little sister, with the permission of her mum and dad. The kidnapping role will either be played by me, Chloe or Chloe's dad - yet it will be made extremely clear to her that nothing bad is happening whilst filming. We were inspired by a programme we have both watched call 'The Missing' and hope to use the success of this film to gross our audience.

I feel that me and Chlo currently have good ideas that, with the right amount of planning and organisation, can be pulled off and done to a high standard. We will carry on planning our film, and keep you updated with this.

Preliminary Task Planning

This is the storyboard we did for the planning of our preliminary task we will be working on. This will include filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a char opposite another character, with whom they then exchange a couple of lines of dialogue.

The actors in this video will be myself and Elchin Aliev, filmed by Chloe Barlow and edited by me and Chloe Barlow.

In this video we will be including shot reverse shot to show the conversation between the two characters opposite each other, so the audience can see both characters facial expressions whilst talking. We are also going to include match on action. This is where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shots action. One example of this in our video will be when someone walks up to a reaching for the handle then opening the door shown in a different shot. This is shown on the first page of the story board. Here it is so you can have a look!

Action Sequence

This is me and Chloe's practice action sequence that we filmed and edited together during a lesson. The idea was we had to show action with the power of subjection, and it also gave us time to practice with filming, editing and different camera shots for the first time to see what we found easy and possibly needed more practice with.

We tried to use various different camera shots in the video depending on what we wanted to show the audience and what we wanted to include in the shot which you will hopefully be able to tell by this short clip.
